To prepare caring, competent professional nurse generalists who provide safe, culturally sensitive, patient centered care for diverse patient populations in a variety of settings through interdisciplinary collaboration, evidence based practice, informatics, safety and quality improvement processes, and effective leadership in the roles of provider of care, manager of care, and member of the profession.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program prepares a nurse generalist with a liberal arts background who focuses upon treating human responses to actual or potential health problems. Graduates are expected to meet the following program outcomes to function in entry-level nursing practice positions. Graduates will:
The BSN program has full approval from the Georgia Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) (One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036. Phone: 202-887-6791, Fax 202-887-8476).
Graduates of the nursing program are eligible to take the Registered Nurse Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN). The Georgia Board of Nursing has sole authority for deciding whether the licensing exam may be taken by a graduate who has been convicted of a felony or had a license encumbered. Further licensure information may be obtained from the Georgia Board of Nursing.
